Design overview
The proposed converter has two ports: one locking DE-9 accepts the source instrument signal, and an opposing DE-9 carries the translated output. A USB-C configuration interface defines the engineering variable, input calibration, scaling curve, output range, clamping, and fail-safe behavior. It is intended to adapt existing instruments while retaining their controls and reducing the need for custom analog circuits.
